From Heartbreak to Heartache: Understanding BPD and Broken Heart Syndrome

Описание к видео From Heartbreak to Heartache: Understanding BPD and Broken Heart Syndrome

Is it possible to die from a broken heart? There is medical evidence that it is and in this video I talk about my belief that individuals with BPD are at a higher risk.

Broken heart syndrome is a recognized medical condition also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy. The symptoms of broken heart syndrome are similar to those of a heart attack, but they are not caused by blocked arteries. Instead, the condition is believed to be caused by a surge of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which narrows the arteries and temporarily limits blood flow to the heart. This can also lead to an irregular heartbeat and, in rare cases, sudden death.
