Syrongomyelia is one type of spinal dysraphism. The manifestation of syringomyelia depends upon which part of the spinal cord is involved. Usually if it is involved in the cervical cord, in the upper part of the spinal cord there will be weakness of the upper limb or involvement of ulcers. There is loss of pain and touch sensation over the fingers and hands where they will sometimes cause burns and non healing ulcers. If it is not treated it can cause involvement of bone with osteomyelitis. They will be having difficulty during work. If it is involvement of the lower part of the spinal cord there will be manifestations similar to the upper limbs in the lower limbs where non healing ulcers, weakness. If it is severe they will be having bowel and bladder involvement. The patient may not feel any pain due to non healing ulcers. You need to treat it appropriately.
