40+ talented young musicians from across Richland came together for the inaugural Richland Middle School Honor Band, an audition-based ensemble featuring the top 10–12 middle school band students from each of our four middle schools.

This new event did more than showcase great music. It helped students see that their music program and community extend far beyond their own building. They had the opportunity to learn from the high school directors, giving them the opportunity to experience different conducting styles and grow their skills. Students practiced on their own and came together for just two rehearsals before performing on the LMS stage.

A special thank you to Libby Band Director Mike Bryan for his leadership and vision in launching this opportunity, and to the band directors at all four middle schools for their support and collaboration in making it a success. Also to high school Band Directors Cole Lobdell (HHS) and Matt Larsen (RHS) for sharing their time, expertise, and encouragement, helping inspire our young musicians.
