In this tutorial you’ll learn how to use an insert edit to add a clip to the start of a timeline in Premiere Pro.

Here’s a quick recap:

Load a clip into your Source Monitor. Set your in and out points. Then in your sequence make sure you are at the very beginning of it. Then use the comma key (,) to perform an insert edit.

Alternatively you can drag your footage from the bin to the start of the timeline and with the Command/Control key pressed down, drop the clip onto the timeline. This will push all the other clips down.
