Dozens of climate protesters glued themselves to pavements outside the UK parliament in London on Wednesday, demanding that the government initiate a programme to insulate homes across the country.

“We are in civil disruption to stop it. Normally, roughly 8,500 people die of cold every winter in Britain. There will be more this winter, because of the cost of living crisis,” said one protester from the ‘Insulate Britain’ movement.

“I've been here last year with Insulate Britain, demanding to the government to isolate the homes of the poorest starting from social housing and they have done nothing at all,” explained a second protester.

Roughly two dozen activists blocked the streets outside the Palace of Westminster for more than two hours, disrupting road users.

Insulate Britain's return to the streets is part of a campaign to "Occupy Westminster", organised by the Just Stop Oil movement. Members of this environmental protest group have continued to block roads in central London for the past few days. Dozens have been arrested.
