Plot revolves around a Dave, a colorful creature like a big-nosed aardvark called a Nestrian. Dave was good at making soft, cozy nests and he would let out a smelly blue gas whenever he got too emotional. Dave and his son, Finny, were always moving, trying to find a place they could really call home. Finny wanted to make friends and settle down. One day, rumors of a big flood that would cover everything spread through their world. Hearing this, Dave quickly packed up, and he and Finny went to where all animals were gathering. They hoped to find safety on a huge boat, big enough for every animal to escape the rising waters. When they got there, Dave and Finny had to think fast and get sneaky help from a tough mother-daughter team, Hazel and Leah, who were Grymps—sleek, big-cat-like creatures. Together, they sneaked onto the boat without anyone noticing. Just when they thought they were safe, trouble hit. Finny and Leah, who were curious and loved adventures, wandered off and got left behind on a small piece of land as a huge wave hit and the boat sailed away. Dave and Hazel panicked when they realized their kids were in big trouble. Meanwhile, Finny, who was a bit clumsy, tried to keep up with Leah, who was a natural at hunting.
