Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has strongly condemned a decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for him, accusing the court of antisemitism. The ICC's decision followed an investigation into alleged war crimes in Gaza, with the judges stating there were reasonable grounds to believe that Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant were criminally responsible for crimes including murder, persecution, and the use of starvation as a weapon of war in the context of a "widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population of Gaza.' Netanyahu, in a video statement, likened the ICC's decision to a "modern Dreyfus trial," referencing the infamous wrongful conviction of French Jewish officer Alfred Dreyfus in the 19th century. He vowed that the outcome would be similar, implying an eventual reversal of the charges. Israel, which does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction, has consistently denied all accusations of war crimes in Gaza.

The ICC, headquartered in The Hague, does not have its own police force to execute arrests and relies on the cooperation of its 124 member states to enforce its warrants. As of now, Israel, along with other countries such as the United States, does not recognize the court's authority, raising doubts about the likelihood of Netanyahu’s arrest.
