Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla and social media platform X who President Donald Trump has tasked to target waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, said Wednesday that “we will make mistakes” in our efforts, but “we’ll fix it very quickly.”

As an example, Musk noted that, while working swiftly to cut funding for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), “one of the things we accidentally canceled very briefly was Ebola prevention.” But he said Ebola prevention aid was restored “immediately” and “there was no interruption.”

A USAID official told The Associated Press that no funds for the agency’s Ebola response efforts had been released following the president’s Jan. 20 freeze on foreign aid.

Musk, donning a black “Make America Great Again” baseball cap and a black T-shirt that read “Tech Support,” on Wednesday detailed what he called a “little summary” of the Department of Government Efficiency’s work during Trump’s first Cabinet meeting of his second term.

He also defended his request for government workers to submit an email detailing their work during the prior week or face termination. Musk said the effort was a “pulse check” to make sure government workers have “a pulse and two neurons.”
