I challenged myself to make the coolest bedside table that I could imagine. I knew I wanted nice moldings and flourish on the sides done with my CNC. But what picture do you put on the coolest bedside table ever? A Cymatics design of 4kHz SOUND!

I also wanted a 2nd level top so I could keep my CPAP machine on that level and not pull it off the table at night. But what kind of posts would hold up the table top? Thin almost like airplane winged shaped ellipsoids (Oak)! I had no idea how to make that so I bought and nice hand plane and got after it.

This was my first table top epoxy pour. I used TOTAL BOAT THICKSET FATHOM EPOXY 1.5 GL SYSTEM so I could do a thick pour. Next time I will seal the sides of the wood with epoxy to reduce air bubbles.

I enjoyed the learning on this project. Doing a Cymatics design on my Genmitsu CNC and Moldings on my Longmill CNC was a great experience.

I used the Elm that I had from a fallen tree. I’ve been drying the wood for over a year but should have brought it into my shop early to acclimate. It warped badly and I had to consider scrapping the entire box, but was able to work around it and still be happy with the result.
