3 mistakes to avoid in case of tubal block

Tubal patency test is a very important part of fertility treatment. Usually after 3 to 6 months of ovulation induction (medicine for ovaries to ovulate) tubal patency test should be done. If age of the female partner is above 35, it can be tested even before starting any infertility treatment
Mistake 1:
The lady often feels very anxious, when tubal patency test is prescribed for her assuming it will be very painful. Sometimes, couple change their doctor to avoid this test. But remember, that will be the worst thing, as without assessing the tubal patency, trying for long time may go in vain. Avoiding the tubal patency test for long time will actually delay parenthood.
Mistake 2:
If tubal blockage is diagnosed then laparoscopy is the first line treatment. Tubal block sometimes happens only because of spasm during the test and which can be easily sorted out by laparoscopy. In case of cornual blockage, rectification can be done with simple hysteroscopic cannulation procedure. So avoiding these procedures for unknown reason will delay the actual goal. Some couple think that they would not go for In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) in any way so they can avoid the laparoscopy also. But remember, tubal block can sometimes be corrected by laparoscopy and hysteroscopy; and patient may not require IVF in future.
Mistake 3:
After laparoscopy, if tubal block is confirmed by doctor, then IVF is the only way forward. No other treatment can help the patient in this situation (other than any miracle happened). So changing the doctor and treatment type will only delay the conception process and remember that with the increasing age, female partner will lose her ovarian reserve also. Therefore, go for the right treatment in right time to minimise waiting period for successful parenthood.
