☕️ About this recipe:

An Australian winter dessert that some might call retro, but to us it never went out of style! It’s the kind of dish you throw on the stove as you’re serving up a roast chicken, ready to finish off the night the right way – completely stuffed.

The dumplings are super similar to making homemade scones coated in a butterscotch style sauce (like in a self-saucing pudding).

🥒 Ingredients:

For the dumplings:
1 cup self raising flour / 130 g / 4.6 oz
2 tbsp butter sub margarine or nuttelex / 35 g / 1.23 oz
1 tbsp sugar optional
1 tsp mixed spice optional
⅓ cup milk / 80 ml / 2.7 floz

For the syrup:
1 ½ tbsp butter 25 g / 0.9 oz
½ cup brown sugar lightly packed, 65 g / 2.3 oz
1 ½ cups water 375 ml / 12.7 floz
2 tbsp golden syrup 40 g / 1.4 oz

To serve:
vanilla ice-cream
custard
whipped cream
