During the running-in period of our Triumph 400X Scrambler, we ride through the remote hills in the far north of Chiang Rai, Thailand's most northern province. Dodging the downpours of the rainy season (mostly), we trace a route along Thailand's borders with Myanmar and Laos, passing through hill tribe villages and coffee plantations of the mountains on tiny concrete lanes and down to the fertile farmland and rice fields of the valleys. Afternoon coffee sees us in the Golden Triangle, where the three countries meet in the Mekong River, and our day ends in the wonderful Baan Sakuna Resort in Chiang Kong.
