Описание к видео Overview of the AHS

The imperative requirement of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to initiate the Allied Health Sciences (AHS) degree programmes in each state University in Sri Lanka has created a path to begin the story of AHS in the University of Jaffna in 2006 and it has started to function as a Unit under the Faculty of Medicine since 2011. It has been established to provide an extra mile towards the field of Allied Health Sciences to nurture knowledge, skills, and values, to enhance the quality of scholarly health professionals to meet the global demands. The vision of the Allied Health Sciences is to be the leading centre of excellence in the field of Allied Health Sciences. Hence, it has started to offer three bachelor honours degrees; Bachelor of Science Honours in Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.Sc. (Hons.) in MLS), Bachelor of Science Honours in Nursing (B.Sc.(Hons.) in Nursing) and Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours (B.Pharm (Hons.)). Recently, the Unit AHS was officially upgraded as Faculty of AHS by UGC on the 2nd of September, 2019 which was the long-craved aspiration of AHS. Then the FAHS incorporated Sports Science Unit to offer B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physical Education. The faculty of AHS has thrived against many obstacles and challenges. However, it succeeded without breaking its journey towards producing outstanding healthcare professionals for the last 15 years. FAHS move forward its untiring efforts to make a step in the right direction in providing excellent health experts to society.
