A big change in the pattern is going to bring a lot of snow to areas who haven't seen very much over the last few weeks of winter. Many others will experience moderating temperatures, as the jet stream sets up over the southern half of the country. As we work through the rest of the week, a storm system out west will bring wind and rain to California with snow in the Sierra Nevadas. Snow can be expected in the Northeast as a system works out of Canada and progresses through that region. Farther south, some rainfall will occur across portions of the lower Mississippi Valley into the Mid-South and Southeast over the next 36 hours. We'll see storm around Valentine's Day form around north Texas and move east through the weekend. Rain and a few thunderstorms will be the dominate hazards with this system. Beyond that, chilly weather returns to the West along with heavy snowfall. I discuss all of this in today's video.
