Today, we reflect on Solomon’s idolatry and the division of the kingdom. 1 Kings 11 recounts Solomon’s downfall, as his many foreign wives lead him into idolatry, turning his heart away from God. Despite his wisdom, Solomon’s disobedience leads to God’s judgment.

In 1 Kings 12, Solomon’s son, Rehoboam, ascends to the throne. His harsh leadership causes the division of the kingdom, with ten tribes rebelling against the house of David. This chapter highlights the consequences of disobedience and the importance of wise and just leadership.
