NORTH SAANICH - When Nickel Brothers staff opened up the gate to their lot on Monday, it didn't take them long to figure out someone else had stopped by overnight. "They went into 11 of the houses you see behind me, and stole copper wiring and copper piping from inside the houses" says Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Cpl. Chris Swain.

Police say a thief, or more likely thieves raided the lot on Willingdon Road Nickel Bros uses to store homes it purchases, moves and re-locates.

Inside the homes, there are also appliances missing. Police figure the culprits must have been on the property for a couple hours, and apparently got away in a stolen vehicle. It seems it was only too tempting to throw all of the wiring, pipe, and appliances into the back of a white South Island Excavating truck parked on-site.

Police are hoping someone has seen the vehicle, with licence plate CT 7777. An 18-foot flat deck trailer is missing too. Metal recyclers in the area have also been given the heads up.

If you think you've seen the stolen truck or trailer, or noticed anything suspicious on Willingdon Road near the southwest corner of the airport late Sunday night or early Monday morning you're asked to call Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
