We work too hard on the wrong things. Hustle without strategy leads to burnout without results. I learned this lesson watching two sales reps: one who put in sheer effort, the other who executed with precision and focus. Guess who won? Strategy beats brute force every time.

The second mistake is mismanaging your niche—either going too broad and losing clarity, or too narrow and running out of opportunities. The key is to balance your niche—targeting a market big enough to scale, but small enough to stand out.

The third mistake I see all the time is a lack of clear calls to action. Whether it’s in person, on your website, or in your sales pitch—if your customer doesn’t know what to do next, they won’t do anything. Confusion kills conversion.

The fourth mistake? Failing to optimize the customer journey. It’s not enough to have great branding or products—you need to make the experience seamless. That means mapping every step of the journey from awareness to purchase, removing friction, and creating clarity at every touchpoint. One bad decision or unnecessary hurdle can cost you the sale. That’s why I reverse engineer every customer interaction—looking at it through their eyes, not mine.

And finally—one of the biggest mindset shifts I had to make—was learning that I wasn’t putting in nearly enough effort to get where I wanted to go. I had to 10X my productivity and commitment. Success isn’t about doing just enough to get by—it’s about doing whatever it takes. That includes refining your strategy, staying disciplined in your execution, and having the courage to change what’s not working. I’ve made all five of these mistakes at one point or another—but becoming aware of them gave me the power to change.
