The world has had its fair share of record breaking roller coasters; from the tallest, to the fastest - many rides have broken records upon their debut. Immediately after the widespread introduction of the steel roller coaster, theme parks battled it out to produce some of the largest, fastest, and most inverting roller coasters on earth. Fast forward to today, and record breaking rides don’t pack the same punch. Some parks are still clinging onto this marketing method, instead with mundane records, claiming to have built the tallest of a very specific type of ride. Ultimately, is the era of the record breaking roller coaster over?
