How to check, test coolant temperature sensor?

If your vehicle starts to use a lot more gasoline than usual, or Rough Idling, Check Engine Light Flashes, Inaccurate Temperature Gauge Readings these are indicators that the coolant temperature sensor in your vehicle could be defective, and needs to be replaced.
To test a temperature sensor with a multimeter, set it to measure resistance, clip one probe to an outer sensor connector and the other across from it.
Submerge in hot then ice water, note readings after a few seconds - around 250 and 1000 ohms respectively.
You can also warm up the temperature sensor with a hair dryer and check it that way.
Don’t Ignore the Warning Signs.
Buy a new one and replace it. It's cheap.
