please see my web site http://thevintagegearcutter.weebly.com/ for contact details , from the vintage gearcutter. This is a three start worm wheel hobbing tool with a helical gash lead which is being backed off, ( form relieved ) on my Lang lathe. The job is for a steering box for a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8c . The worm in the shoot is the standard I will be using to gauge the center distance once I have cut the worm wheel. The lathe is equipped with a differential which allows me to compensate for the helical flute, at the same time as form relieving action. The indexing of the three starts is accommodated via a lever which will select up to 6 starts, and is a very user friendly machine to use. I do not know the age of the machine, but I think it is from around about the war era.
My apologies for the shaky photo, as I was multi tasking as I took the photo . This is done from my home in Auckland New Zealand as well as gear hobbing and gear shaping, which I offer as a service, see http://thevintagegearcutter.weebly.com/ .
