The Astrological Lodge of London was founded by Alan Leo in 1915. He is sometimes called the father of modern astrology because he reinvigorated the study and emphasized psychological principles in the interpretations of the signs and planets.

He had been the manager of a grocery store in Manchester when, in 1885, he began to study astrology. Eventually he joined the broader Theosophical Movement and gave many lectures, traveling to India and incorporating Vedic Astrology into his ideas. This short selection is from the series, Astrology for All. It was published in 1917, the year he was convicted of fortune-telling, a charge which took a toll on his health. He died later that same year.
