Indigenous Fishing, Hunting, and Harvesting with Knowledge-keeper Steven Ireland

Описание к видео Indigenous Fishing, Hunting, and Harvesting with Knowledge-keeper Steven Ireland

We are so grateful to share the teachings of Knowledge-keeper Steven Ireland of the Oneida Nation of the Thames. Steven shares his experiences and the importance of fishing and hunting as sustenance and duty for Indigenous peoples. He also shared with us the importance of coming to the river with good intentions and that the animals will acknowledge that, like the bullfrogs, fish, and birds that joined us while filming. We are honoured to receive these teachings and share them with our community in hopes of reconciliation and further protections of Indigenous Fishing and Hunting Rights under our treaty responsibilities.

Thank you to Steven Ireland for his time and teachings, we hope you enjoy!

Acknowledgment of the land prepared for Growing Chefs! Ontario by our friend and Knowledge-keeper Ray John of Oneida Nation of the Thames.

Acknowledgement of the land

We acknowledge the earth and its continuing connection to every single living thing.

We acknowledge the early civilizations who lived in harmony with the earth and who continue to utilize the land.

We acknowledge the future and that together we can revitalize our livelihood once again.

We acknowledge the earth once again for the essence of energy to give us life and love.

Thank you to our mother earth.

- Ray John of Oneida Nation
