Stonewall Rebellion Veterans’ Association Liaison Christy Henderson-Jenkins was arrested at age 17 during the Stonewall rebellion. She was later sent to Bellevue, where they tried to “cure” her of her trans identity. That’s when Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and others took to the sidewalks outside Bellevue to protest Christy’s institutionalization and forced electroshock therapy, and crusade for her release.
