Lake District 2 Day 7 17/5/19 Climbing Blencathra via Scales Tarn

Today we climbed the mighty and imposing mountain of Blencathra. Starting from the free car park at Scales, it was up the hosepipe and along the path on the right to Scales Tarn. Then we took the steep path to the left of the tarn up to the top and admired those who took the Sharp Edge Route. At the top we enjoyed the wonderful views and a great lunch before walking out and back to Knowe Crag. Then we took a different route back down by heading across the top towards Atkinson's Pike stopping at the large white cross. Then we descended to the saddle and followed the path on the left hand side down the valley and returned to Scales again.
A long tough walk but a another brilliant day in the Lake District
