THE BRIDGE AT ROSTOV(JULY 1942).
While the main panzer forces slogged their way through layers of Soviet strongpoints, a combined force of reconnaissance panzergrenadiers and Brandenburgercommandos was sent ahead to secure vital bridges over the river Don, which passes through the southern section of Rostov before emptying into the sea of Azov. Under the cover of darkness, a small group of Brandenburgers and reconnaissance infantry crossed the river in inflatable boats in preparation to seize the bridges before the Soviets could reinforce or destroy them.

FORCES
This scenario is designed for four players, two per side, each commanding one platoon, we decided to cut this down for a two player fast paced game.

The Axis player(s) selects two 1,000pt platoons: using the Rostov Armoured Kampfgruppe Reinforced Platoon and the Brandenburger Reconnaissance Reinforced Platoon.

The Soviet player(s) selects two platoons from the Rostov NKVD Motorised Reinforced Platoon Theatre Selector, each consisting of 750pts.

SETUP UP
The battle is played on a 6' x 4' gaming surface. The short table edges are north and south. 24" from the southern table edge, place a river parallel to the short table edge. The river is impassable terrain.

Over the river place two bridges (one vehicle and one railway bridge) each 12"from the long table edges. To provide some cover on the bridges, it is advisable to add a small amount of cover such as sandbag emplacements or a destroyed vehicle or two. North of the bridge place dense urban terrain all the way to the northern table edge. South of the bridge should be much less built-up, with only a smattering of industrial buildings interspersed with marshy areas and raised causeways.

Michael showcases his amazing Stalingrad city terrain and scenery and its flexibility to be ised as another soviet city, Rostov, as well as some is brilliantly painted German and Soviet troops.

Another great battle, fantastic board and a few laughs and banter along the way…

…but who will win, watch and see!
