On May 31, 2013, The largest tornado in human history would be confirmed. Along with that, 36 other tornadoes would that confirmed this day. Due to mobile radar measurements, this tornado was actually rated preliminarily as an EF5. But, since it only hit the edges of weak homes, it was downgraded to EF3. Aside from that, it’s no doubt this tornado lives in infamy due to its size and being the cause of death for the first 3 storm chaser fatalities. Due to these pieces of info, the tornado have become well known by many worldwide and unforgettable by most alive in the area at the time. So, this tornado and almost every video of it were shared widely shortly after its occurrence. Since most were shared back way back then, any new angles from the event are most definitely considered a big deal, especially of the tornado towards its max width. That’s why I was very elated when I recently discovered this incredible footage from a local driver that showcases the 2.6 mile wide tornado silently churning in the background. According to the wife of the videographer, he didn’t even notice he was recording a tornado till it had turned from approaching his home (in El Reno) towards him (on highway 81). This recorded by Jim Baum, who apparently thankfully made it out of the storm (though likely after it dissipated). This footage is extremely rare (as it shows the tornado during max width), so I do hope you all enjoy!
