Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is located almost 40km from the city of jamshedpur in the state of jharkhand. inaugurated in 1975 by Sanjay Gandhi. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for it's forest tourism, but to the residents, it is more familiar because of it's wild residents elephant. Dalma haathi Or the Elephants of Dalma is a known and quite fearful term in the jamshedpur_purulia region. The 193sq km forest of Dalma has many tall wild species of trees like sal, gamhar, mahua, semal, ans some shorter one like jamun, dhaura, kendu, as well. other than the Asiatic Elephants for which it is famous, you can also spot barking deer, porcupines, wild bear, peacock, snake, giant squirrel, mongoooses, and sloth bears. leopards are said to be present but hard to have a glimpse. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary offers excellent bird watching experience.
