With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading across the globe, governments seek innovative and dynamic solutions to make the right decisions at the right time, to save lives and minimise economic impact. Mobile operators are in a unique position to add value with many having developed capabilities to provide tools driven by aggregated and anonymised mobile data insights on population movements within countries. These tools and services support decision making for significant challenges including health epidemics, climate action and disaster preparedness.

The 8th instalment of the AI4I webinar series, features in-country support teams at GSMA, alongside Fiacre Mushimire, Senior Manager in charge of Technology Innovation, RURA (Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority). This session spotlights the project in Rwanda, and provides an in-country perspective on the value of mobile big data analytics tools to support Covid-19 response measures.
