Double Dragon was one first games I ever played in a local arcade. It's the game that got me hooked on beat em ups and I have fond memories of playing it with friends.

I was ecstatic to get this clear and it's the first on revenge list, aptly named Burly's Revenge Tour #1, where I hope to go back to games that kicked my butt as a kid and get my revenge.

Whilst the game itself is very important to me and to the beat em up genre as a whole, it hasn't aged as well as some others. It can be a little janky in places and suffers from slowdown when too many enemies are on the screen.

The infamous back elbow is very strong with an active hitbox that puts Ky's 6p to shame. Some people lament it as cheap but I think the game is much more fun when using it. Otherwise it can be a battle of footsies, mashing, and hoping your punch succeeds.

However, it is a short game and the music is absolutely fantastic. Definitely one of my favorites.

This was completed on the hardest difficulty on a PS4 Pro. The game is a port of the Double Dragon arcade game by by Hamster, as part of their Arcade Archives series.

There seems to be some differences to other videos I've watched - namely the protruding walls at the beginning of the final stage. I trust Hamster, but I am curious why it is missing. Will update here if I find an answer.
