The Zcash project enables anonymous and confidential asset transfer on the blockchain; however, it lacks support for further programmability, thus excluding popular DeFi applications like decentralised exchanges, lending protocols, and asset management. We will present a systematisation of knowledge (SoK) of programmable privacy, that: formally assesses the existing solutions; understands the use-cases they enable; and studies their compatibility with the Zcash protocol.

Ying Tong is an applied cryptographer at Geometry Research. Previously, she was a developer at the Electric Coin Company and the Ethereum Foundation. She also contributes to the halo2 library as a community manager.
