-Congratulations! You are a candidate for refractive surgery! Whether you are moving forward with LASIK, PRK, ICL, or Refractive Lens exchange, the Milan Eye Center team is here to help you on your journey to glasses freedom.

The Work Up
You can expect to be on-site for approximately 60-90 minutes for your dilated refractive appointment. During this visit, a technician will do a few initial tests to check your vision. From there, one of our highly qualified Optometrists will dilate your eyes with drops, and perform a refractive exam. This exam is a key part of the process, as it allows us to determine your true uncorrected prescription Since your eyes will be dilated for this appointment, you may have some light sensitivity or blurred vision for about 2-3 hours.

Surgical Scheduling Appointment:

From there, you will meet with one of our Surgical Schedulers to discuss your procedure, select your procedure date, schedule your follow-up appointments, review pre and post-operative instructions, and process payment, or discuss interest-free payment options. Feel free to ask any remaining questions, as you prepare for your procedure.

A few points to keep in mind for after your procedure. You will need medicated eye drops following the procedure. The drop regimen will vary depending on which procedure you are planning. It will be important to keep the following restrictions in mind after your procedure:

Please plan to have a driver for your procedure and for the 1-day follow up the next day
Avoid heavy lifting (anything over 20 pounds for 1-week after the procedure
Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for 4 weeks after the procedure
Avoid dusty, dirty, sandy windy environments for 4 weeks
Do not bump or rub the eye
Wear sunglasses while you are outdoors, and a sleeping shield at night for one week after surgery. A pair of sunglasses and a sleeping shield will be provided to you on the day of your procedure.
