Okay, this might be a little bulky!
Is this where I reprimand myself for a sizeist comment and fat shaming my ephemera?
Is it not bulky, just fluffy?
Is it okay to say that not only is my journal gator-mouthed, but so is my ephemera?
I really don’t mind bulky ephemera, despite what I may have said in the past, so long as it is positioned well and in consideration of other journal elements. And by that, I mean, don’t place it where it’s going to damage another piece of ephemera or the journal itself.
There generally seems to be two trains of thought when it comes to bulk in a journal.
Your either for it, or against it.
You either like gator-mouth journals or you don’t.
You make either naked journals or everything and the kitchen sink journals, you know these are the journals with enough lace to open a haberdashery store and every kind of ephemera known to womankind.
I propose there is a third camp, those who are somewhere in-between. These are the people who instead of making a journal with a gator-mouth that is four times the width of the spine, make a spine that requires a step ladder to see the top of the front cover when the journal is laying on its back, but at least it's not a gator-mouth. And the people who stage and stagger their ephemera to spread the load rather than placing their ephemera so it sits one on top of another.
I really enjoyed this prompt response because it gave me an excuse to dig through some of the deep, dark recesses of my craft stash to find some things that haven’t seen the light of day in several years, because I simply no longer use them anymore. I am grateful for the trip down memory lane for a couple of reasons; 1) Because it reminded how much stuff I have that I no longer use that I really need to go through and decide whether to keep or toss out and 2) Because it reminded how much stuff I bought that I really don’t want to throw away because of all the hard earned money that cost, so I need to justify those purchases by using it up quick, smart!
I really don’t want to throw away all that money for nothing, so I guess I need to start getting creative and start to use it up or sell it on Facebook Marketplace or the like.
