Pazhamudir Cholai - Nestled in the verdant panoramic Azhagar hills, is Pazhamudircholai.
Here Lord Muruga blesses alongside with his two divine consorts.Legend has it that, it was here,that Muruga assumed the form of a cow-herd and appeared before the great Tamizh poetess Avvaiyar and asked her if she wanted சுட்ட பழம் வேண்டுமா சுடாத பழம் வேண்டுமா. Do you want a hot fruit or a cold one?, she was puzzled , when Muruga dropped the fruit in the sand from the tree top, she blew at the fruit before eating it and then he laughed asking her if it was hot !
Realising that this was no ordinary boy, Avvaiyar asked the Lord to show his divine form, he appeared to her here in his resplendent form on a peacock.
Close to Madurai is the The famous Azhagarkoil, one of the divyadesham as per vaishavism and in this verdant Azhagar malai we can worship Muruga in Pazhamudircholai which is in one of the hillocks. There is a Noopura Ganga, a natural spring on top of the hill.

The temple dates back to over a million years according to folklore and texts. It is said that in olden days it was the VEL that was worshiped here.

The Last among the Arupadai Vedus, it is mentioned by the great Tamizh Poet Nakeerar in his Tirumurugatrupadai.
