This is your stimulus check update and second stimulus check update for those on SSI, SSDI, Social Security, or VA benefits
Yesterday a bunch of people in the comments said that they had a direct deposit pending for the $600 second stimulus check! Congratulations!
I also heard from many of you that are on SSI, SSDI, Social Security, or VA benefits and do not have a pending payment.
I still don't have my second stimulus check either.
So you aren't alone if you didn't get your second stimulus check yet.
Let me know if you get yours today, or if you still haven't received yours like me.
I want to go over a few frequently asked questions that I have been getting in the comments.
First off, if you owe back child support, you will still be getting the second stimulus check as long as you are eligible for it.
If you are claimed as a dependent on someone else's taxes and didn't get the first stimulus check because of it, you will not get the second stimulus check either.
If you have a direct express card, you should be getting your second stimulus check on the direct express card.
If you got your first stimulus check by paper check or EIP debit card, you will be getting the second stimulus check by paper check or eip debit card.
Make sure you check your mail for unmarked envelopes as the debit cards will come in an unmarked envelope.
Paper checks started to go out by mail yesterday.
Direct deposits are going out every day, so be sure to check you bank account or direct express card each day.
I had a friend that I talked to yesterday who did not get his stimulus check in the morning, but by the afternoon it was showing as pending in his bank account.
If you have a pending amount on your bank account, it should take a day or two for that to clear and be available for your to use.
But that can vary by bank.
If someone claimed you without your knowledge or is claiming your children or grandchildren that live with you all year, there are some steps that you can take to get that resolved.
If you cannot get it resolved with the person that is claiming you or the children you care for, then it may be a good idea to work with a tax professional to get it resolved.
If you added a bank account to the non-filers tool for the first stimulus check, but still got a paper check in the mail, you will most likely get a paper check or EIP debit card for the second stimulus check.
A lot of people on SSI, SSDI, Social Security and VA benefits have asked me why they would need to file taxes when they aren't required to.
If you are not required to file taxes, the only reasons why you would need to file taxes in 2021 is if you didn't get the first stimulus check or the second stimulus check.
If you were eligible for the first stimulus check, but never got one, you will need to file taxes in 2021 to get your first stimulus check.
And if you don't get the second stimulus check, but were eligible for it, you will need to file taxes in 2021 to get your second stimulus check as well.
Even those on SSI, SSDI, or Social Security MAY file taxes if you didn't get your first or second stimulus check, but if you got both of those stimulus checks, you will not need to file taxes.
If you got your first stimulus check, you will not need to do anything to get the second stimulus check, unless you changed bank accounts or addresses since the first stimulus check.
If you got a paper check and you have moved.
You need to fill out a USPS change of address form, if you haven't already, so that your mail will be forwarded from your previous address to your new address.
If you changed bank accounts and you got your first stimulus check in the bank account that you no longer have, then IRS will attempt to send your check to your old bank account and the bank will reject it.
The IRS will then attempt to mail you a paper check.
If you do not get that paper check, then you will need to file taxes in 2021 to claim the stimulus check
