As part of its continuous effort to hold public office holders accountable and keep residents informed on critical issues affecting the people of Epe, the leading media outfit, EPE LAWA, paid a working visit to the member representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Murtain Abiodun Tobun, in his office at the Assembly Complex.

In an exclusive interview with EPE LAWA, Hon. Tobun gave detailed insight into the epileptic power supply currently affecting Epe community. He explained the genesis of the electricity challenge and highlighted several strategic efforts already put in place to ensure permanent restoration.

According to him, Epe currently has three viable options for stable electricity supply. The first option is tapping power from the Ikorodu power source, with a proposed 133KVA step-down facility to be installed in Epe.

The second option involves the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), through the Ministry of Energy, which is presently working on a power line that will be stringed directly from Ijebu-Ode to Epe, a project he said is expected to materialize within 90 days.

The third option is the establishment of an Independent Power Project (IPP) for Epe, an initiative that is already receiving attention, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu fully briefed on the development.

Hon. Tobun assured residents that electricity restoration in Epe will happen sooner than expected.

Addressing concerns about the faulty traffic lights in the area, Hon. Tobun disclosed that he has personally engaged the appropriate ministry and received assurances that replacement of the batteries for the affected traffic lights is already in progress. However, he clarified that no traffic light will be installed at Ita-Marun Junction. Instead, the government has opted for a junction improvement project aimed at better traffic control and safety in the area.

The lawmaker also rendered an account of his stewardship, highlighting several developmental projects he has facilitated across the constituency since assuming office.

Reacting to questions on his fifth-term bid, Hon. Tobun stated that “on the field of play, you don’t change a performing player.” He expressed confidence that his track record and performance have earned him the trust and support of the people, whom he said are calling for his return to the House of Assembly to continue representing Epe.
