The expedition arrived before dawn, following coordinates that had not been checked in decades. The gate stood where the ice had cracked open, half-buried, older than any record that mentioned it. They left the vehicle running against the cold, lights cutting into the drifting snow, and entered one by one.

Inside, the wind behaved differently. It did not howl, but moved steadily, as if guided by the structure itself. Tunnels opened into chambers, chambers into deeper passages, all carved with a purpose no one could fully determine. Instruments failed first. Then communication.

Hours passed. Or less. Time did not behave as expected. No return signal was ever logged. The gate remained open. The vehicle was found days later, engine silent, lights still on...
