My first Alocasia, a Silver Dragon, stole my heart when I saw it at a nursery back in May. Its light green foliage with a silvery hue is just magical. This beauty really challenged me—it wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped! By summer, most of its leaves had fallen off, and I realized I needed to give her some extra love and attention to bring her back to life.

Here’s what I learned: Alocasias are picky but so worth it. 🌱 I cut off the dried leaves to give her a fresh start and repotted her in a mix with plenty of perlite for good drainage. To mimic her tropical rainforest roots, I placed her on a saucer filled with pebbles and water to boost humidity. (Pro tip: A humidifier works wonders too!) She sits in bright, indirect light and gets watered when the topsoil feels dry.

It took some trial and error, but she’s thriving now—new leaves and even babies! Alocasias might not be the easiest plants, but seeing her thrive now makes it all so rewarding. Have you ever brought a plant back to life? Let me know in the comments!
