One of Africa's iconic trees, the Baobab, face multiple threats. Not only due to global demand for the fruit's health benefits, but climate change and industrialisation. In 2022 baobab trees were controversially uprooted in Kenya and exported to Georgia in Eastern Europe. And according to recent reports, thousands of baobab - and other indigenous South African trees - will make way for a heavy industry development plan in Limpopo.
