The Brooklyn Young Republican Club, Going Strong Since 1880, cordially invited its members and guests from the general public to a debate among the candidates for election to the Presidency of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, 7pm, Knights of Columbus, 1511 10th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.

A contested election has not occurred for this position since, according to our records, 1952–nearly 66 years ago.

In the wake of a contested election for the Club Presidency, the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club authorized the hosting of a debate among the candidates for the benefit of Club members as well as interested non-members who wish to attend.

The topics covered will include a range of issues, including possible visions for the Club’s future, Young Republican activism in Brooklyn and New York City, what it means to be a Republican generally and to what extent that should or perhaps shouldn’t translate into wholehearted support for President Donald J. Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda, and more.

The debate was hosted by Debate Moderator Jonathan J. Judge, former President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Young Republican Club.

The debate consisted of opening statements from each of the candidates, followed by Oxford-style debates on a series of resolutions prepared by the Moderator and shared with the candidates in advance. Then, Club members had a chance to submit questions directed to all candidates that the Moderator selected on the basis of originality and proper decorum, time permitting.
