The Roman Navy fleet was made of up quadremes or triremes which were powered by rowers in tiers of either two or three. The main technique of naval warfare involved the vessels ramming the enemy with their large brass ramming heads called rostrums. Discover how recent maritime archaeology uncovered 11 rostrums from 241 BC from the Bay of Naples area and learn how these artefacts better our understanding of ancient Roman warfare.
