Ilulissat, Greenland: The Most Amazing Place On Earth | Land of Icebergs |

Ilulissat, Greenland is an amazing place to be, in any season. In this video, we start off by taking a short 45 minutes flight from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat. The best thing about domestic flight departures within Greenland is that there is no security check procedure, so things are smooth, relaxed and fast. The flight trip between Kangerlussuaq and Ilulissat is probably one of the most beautiful trips in the world due to all the picturesque icebergs and natural features that you can see out the flight window, including of course, the ice cap or the ice sheet - which we walked on in our previous video. There are a few other spectacular sights which you must see in the video! After landing in Ilulissat, we head off to our hotel - Hotel Arctic - which is probably the best hotel in Ilulissat. On the way to the hotel, we keep seeing icebergs! We meet our guide at the hotel and then show you how to dress up in layers to keep oneself warm during these extreme Arctic weather conditions, and shield oneself from the snow and wind. There is heavy snowfall in Ilulissat when we land and the ground is covered in snow - up to a feet at places! The wind gives us chills and makes it hard to record videos to be honest! Nevertheless, we accompany our guide on a sightseeing trip across the 12 sq kms that is the city of Ilulissat - starting with its center-most point and its busiest spot! Ilulissat is the third largest city in Greenland and we then explore its port/harbour and the humongous whale jawbone structures around, one of the local workshops where reindeer antlers are used for craftsmanship and to carve various miniature idols, explore its history with the Danish who came here in 1741 and established a trading post here and built the oldest structure still there (Zion's church), delve a bit into the history of famous Polar explorers like Knud Rasmussen who traversed the northwest passage between the Atlantic and the Pacific, and admire the icebergs from afar! When we get back to the hotel, the sun shines bright and the sunshine is so intense as to set the skin literally on fire! We conclude the video with our complementary dinner at Hotel Arctic on our first night there, and promise to show you a boat tour among the icerbergs to view them up close in the next video!
