Keith Nichols’ Cotton Club Orchestra - Here is a superb session from my archive. Keith Nichols is an internationally acclaimed master of classic jazz and ragtime piano: his talent spans styles from Scott Joplin to Duke Ellington and pianists of the 1920s. He can play multiple instruments and is also a leading arranger, band leader and vocalist. No British Jazz festival or jazz club has been complete without the regular appearance of Keith Nichols with at least one his bands or orchestras during the past the past 20+ years (March 2019).
This was the first appearance of the Cotton Club Orchestra at Bude. Trumpet star Mike Henry joins Keith along with Alan Barnes & Robert Fowler (reeds), Alistair Allen (trombone), Martin Wheatley (banjo, guitar). Richard Pite (drums), and Graham Read (bass and sousaphone) completes the orchestra. Video made at The Falcon Hotel, Bude's premier jazz venue.
