This is the first trap run on our new farm and the beginning of long-term predator control and land management.

I set 9 traps and caught 2 possums. It’s not a high catch rate, but these were the first predators removed from the property and that means two fewer nest predators impacting wildlife, turkeys, and ground-nesting birds.

I’m not running a full-scale trapping program yet. Once we’re living on the farm full-time, I’ll get more serious and consistent with trapping and predator management. Since I had to be on the property several days in a row this week, I decided to put some traps out and see what was moving.

This video is about realistic farm life, wildlife management, and improving habitat through responsible predator control. Every farm and hunting property has to start somewhere. This is step one.
