National Farmers’ Day or Kisan Day is observed every year on December 23 which is the birth anniversary of Chaudhury Charan Singh, the fifth Prime Minister of India. Born into a farmer’s family, Chaudhury Charan Singh was known for his farmer-friendly policies and worked hard for the welfare of Indian farmers. Farmers are the backbone of society and they work hard throughout the year to feed the people of this country in spite of the enormous hardships they face. Therefore, Farmers’ Day is celebrated to bring about awareness about their contribution to the economic well being of India which is largely dependent on agriculture. The students of Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills participated in activities to create awareness about the immeasurable contributions of farmers and also the challenges they face to feed the hungry.
