A few commenters were asking for some FSOL - happy to oblige, though Warner Music Group and Beggars have interfered a bit due to copyright complaints.

Sooo.. not 100% correct, and I've done a sort of shorted version for the final track, but it gets you in the right ball-park for the original track would have been created. There's a great Sound on Sound article, talking to the guys about this track, which has been the basis for most of this video, along with other interviews and (of course) WhoSampled -

They also mention using an old Atari 1040, which would have no doubt been a lot easier to use than the MC50 and a notepad to keep track of where you are in the sequence. DAWless jams be damned.
