One of those moments was at the Olympic Games in Atlanta.
There were three people in a fight. Botev, Weller and a powerhouse - Chemerkin.
Botev and Weller both snatched 200 kilos. Much heavier Chemerkin snatched less and came to clean and jerk as an underdog.
Weller took the lead and lifted the world record. I don’t know how they forgot that Chemerkin has one more attempt. Especially that a year ago this very trio was at the meet where Chemerkin won.
But Ronny celebrated with all his heart. We all know that weightlifting shoes are probably the heaviest sports shoes. Anyway Ronny threw it into the crowd. Then came Chemerkin lifted 260, beat his record and took the gold. Felt humiliating.
The chance to get even appeared a year later. They both snatched 200. But powerhouse Chemerkin lifted another world record in clean and jerk and won again.
