When the officer sees the target vehicle approaching, he/she will deploy the spikes in the upright position. Once the vehicle drives over, the officer can release the lever, allowing any tailing vehicles to safely pass over the RoadSpike without harm to the vehicle. The spikes allow for a slow leak of air from the tires which will slow the vehicle down to be stopped with the safety of others in mind. If the spikes become embedded into the target vehicle, replacement spikes can easily be replaced for repeated use.
