Yamaha has updated its FZS FI with a so-called "Hybrid" version, but does it really justify the ₹10,000 premium?

What’s Hybrid About It?
The bike uses Yamaha’s micro-hybrid tech first seen on its 125cc scooters. Instead of a conventional starter motor, it gets a starter-generator system that allows silent starts. But unlike rivals like the TVS Jupiter, there’s no torque boost or performance benefit. Power and torque remain identical to the standard FZS FI.

Features and Design Updates
The upgrades include a sharper LED headlamp, integrated indicators, and a new colour TFT screen. The display is crisp and adds turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and Bluetooth features. Beyond this, the bike rides and feels the same as before (efficient, frugal, but not any more exciting).

Fuel Efficiency
Yamaha claims slightly better economy thanks to the system, but real-world gains aren’t dramatic. Expect around 55 km/l, not the big leap you’d hope for in a “Hybrid.”

Verdict
The FZS FI Hybrid looks sharper and packs more features, but mechanically it’s unchanged. For most buyers, the regular FZS FI offers nearly the same experience for less money. Our advice? Save the ₹10,000 and spend it on quality riding gear and fuel instead.
