Bach Prelude 4 in in C-sharp min, BWV 849 Pianoteq

This prelude is by no means a chip of the same block as the first. It is not too bold to assert that in the separate numbers of the Well-tempered Clavier Bach not only aimed at displaying technique in all positions of the keyboard, but at the same time, and once for all, in typical manner at revealing the character of each particular key. The C-minor prelude of the first part is so possessed with the spirit of the C-minor key, so full of restrained power, of passionate throbbing, that the C-minor Symphony of Beethoven and likewise his Sonate pathetique recur spontaneously to one's mind.
The construction of the piece, for the rest, is similar to that of the first prelude. It consists of three (extended) periods of which the last has decidedly a coda character.
