When I was 16 years old, I had saved up $600.00 to buy my first fixer up car.
This song is about my first car, my four door Nova. I spent over a year tearing down and building up. I put a lot of blood sweat and tears in to that car, but it was mine.
Lyrics:
I turned 16 and eager drive.
I wanted a hot rod beast of a ride
I saved up 600 dollars in cash
But afraid it would only buy the dash
I scavenged all the dealerships for my new friend
I came up short and was at my wits end
At was at my last stop and not that excited
Salesman came out thinking he was in for a sale
not knowing I was not that big whale
I showed him my cash and he started to leave
and quickly turned again and said you wont believe
I just trade in from a very old woman
he point way back where it was all hidden
It was a 4 door Nova
with V8 305 motor
He took my 600 and said "will call it even"
I was so glad , because I hadn't eaten
Wheels wobbled and oil leaked
I had a lot of work to do
I turned sixteen, with driving dreams ablaze,
Yearned for a beast of a ride to amaze.
Saved six hundred bucks, not a fortune, just a stash,
Hoping it’d be enough, for a car with panache.
Scoured every dealership, hope starting to fade,
But fate had a twist, on my journey it played.
At the last stop, where my hopes collided,
Met a salesman there, confidence undivided.
Showed him my cash, he glanced, ready to flee,
Then spun around with a grin, exclaimed, "Come see!"
From a little old lady, it had been passed over,
There it stood, my pride, my four-door Nova.
My four-door Nova, a V8 motor’s roar,
Bought with dreams and six hundred, not a penny more.
Wheels wobbled, oil leaked, but she was mine,
With grit and grease, I’d make her shine.
She needed love, a lot of tender care,
So I stripped her down, to her bones, bare.
Engine down the stairs, with cat hair on the cam,
Built her back up, with a new, roaring jam.
Black Jack exhaust, fuel line pristine,
Painted her gunsmoke grey, like a dream.
Bang shifter in the floor, a torque converter raise,
Made her sing, in the streets, with a powerful blaze.
With my head held high, cruising with pride,
In my four-door Nova, no need to hide.
My four-door Nova, a V8 motor’s roar,
Bought with dreams and six hundred, not a penny more.
Wheels wobbled, oil leaked, but she was mine,
With grit and grease, I’d make her shine.
From rusty beginnings, to a shining star,
My Nova, my journey, near and far.
Through the wrenches turned, and the midnight oil burned,
A bond so strong, that nothing could be spurned.
My four-door Nova, a V8 motor’s roar,
Bought with dreams and six hundred, not a penny more.
Wheels wobbled, oil leaked, but she was mine,
With grit and grease, I’d make her shine.
So here I am, with my wheels and my pride,
In my four-door Nova, taking life in stride.
With every rev of the engine, and every mile I roam,
She’s not just a car, she’s my heart, my home.
